A new harness for my mare Dawn. She must have liked it , she actually stood still for a change.This was a quickie adjustment. Notice the conventional brown reins.

Beautiful bridle with padded crown. Lots of keepers on the straps.

The saddle has a chrome keeper at the top and a leather keeper at the bottom to keep straps in line with saddle. Prevents shaft loop (tug) straps from sliding off saddle and pinching horse. Also the loops are on the outside to prevent them from digging in when you tighten the straps.

The shaft loop comprises a stainless steel band covered with leather on the lower end and a hinge joint. The buckle also has a back-up liner to prevent chaffing. You would need to see some very expensive harness to find these features.

Notice the opening in the breast plate for the trace to come up thru to meet the buckle. This is a wonderful feature to keep the breast plate and trace on a flat line on the side towards the horse. We will show a picture later comparing this to an ordinary harness so you can see what a great feature this is.

Traces are two ply and double stitched. You won't find heavier built traces . This is where all the load is and a great safety plus.

These are substansial reins and tan is the proper color even with a black harness.

See in our harness how the trace comes up thru the opening in the breast plate and makes a nice smooth line next to the horse. Check out other configurations on the right. You be the judge.

Ours and a bargain brand neckstrap. Which would you rather see on your horse? 

We do not recommend overchecks nor do we supply them with our harnesses. The hardware for overchecks are ,however, included on the saddle and most bridles. If you require an overcheck we can supply one at additional cost. You may add it to your order at checkout.

Then I threw it on my wife's quilt rack. Another quick adjustment. Easier to do on the quilt rack. The rack stood still, better training I guess.

Notice the nice rosette and crown piece. 0 maintenance. Blinkers are nice and large with triple stitching. The blinker straps are lead cored to keep blinkers in place.

The saddle padding is lined with glove soft leather. Notice the nice large rein loops.

The breast plate is 4 inches wide and has padding covered in glove soft leather. You can see the quality in this piece of work. Replaced with collar and hames on harness sets with collar and hames.( 3 inches wide on shetland and mini size )

This breeching has 2 straps to hold it up,as most harneses do. The breeching seat is two ply and the holdback straps are extra long to reach those far away footmans loops.

The crupper is buckled to make the harness easier to put on and adjust.

Look at this neckstrap. A large hinged rein loop. Padded with glove soft leather and a full 3 inches wide. It also has two straps on each side to hold up the breast plate. A real nice feature not found on your run of the mill harness. We will show a picture later comparing this to other harness.

This is how bargain brands do it. Not much of a bargain for the poor horse.

Notice the chrome keeper on the top and the leather one on the bottom for the shaft loop and saddle straps on our harness. The other harness just has a leather loop with a buckle and no keepers. This allows the strap to slide off the saddle and come in contact with the horse.

    After having an improtant part of my first harness break, I contacted Amber Hillside and ordered our new harness.

    Tough to belive it has been almost a year already and it still looks like new. Nice harness and for the money- it would be tough to find anything near the quality or value.
